So, how does the installation of Java apps on the Sony Ericsson phone works?

The first thing is to get the jar file into your phone. So, what are the ways to get the jar file into a Sony Ericsson phone? Let me copy & paste the instructions from Sony Ericsson’s K800 User Guide.

1. Bluetooth File Transfer
If your computer supports Bluetooth wireless technology, you can install the Sony Ericsson PC Suite to synchronize, transfer files, use the phone as modem and more via Bluetooth communication. Install the Sony Ericsson PC Suite from the CD that came with the phone or download it at www.sonyericsson.com/support. The PC Suite also includes help.

2. Infrared Port Transfer
If your computer supports infrared, you can install the Sony Ericsson PC Suite to synchronize, transfer files, use the phone as modem and more via infrared. Install the Sony Ericsson PC Suite from the CD that came with the phone or download it at www.sonyericsson.com/support. The PC Suite also includes help.

3. Transferring files using the USB cable
Connect your phone to a computer, via the USB cable, to use the phone in one of the following: File transfer or Phone mode.
Drag and drop files between the phone and computer in Microsoft Windows Explorer.

Those are the instructions from the K800 User Guide.

If the jar file is sent to your phone through Bluetooth, Infra-Red or downloaded from the Internet directly, the installation process begins once the phone has received the file. For jar files that are copied over to the phone using a USB Cable connected to a PC, opening the jar file will start the installation. You just need to follow the instructions displayed during the installation process.

I hope that was that helpful.
